Today I nervously drove to Blackrock, which terrifies me. I do not do well on the Stillorgan road. Driving somewhere I am not familiar with never works out well and more times than not ends up with myself and my boyfriend breaking up on the side of the road but quickly making up as always.  Thank god for the new store opening soon in Rathgar.

The purpose of this journey was to get The Organic Supermarket. They do exactly what it says on the tin, sell organic fruit/ veg and a lot of fair trade products etc. I was in search for the 3 day juice detox box. It comes with; Apples, carrots, lemons, peppers, cucumbers, celery, broccoli, beetroot, ginger, parsley, avocados and spinach. I nearly died when I saw the amount that came in it, definitely 35 euros worth.

After watching a documentary "Hungry for Change" on Netflix I haven't been able to shift the idea of juicing. Although it is a great way to lose weight and kick start a diet (which I will admit is a plus) I am doing it because I don't feel that I eat well enough and want to change my life style as well as my diet. In the documentary they discuss that naturally as humans our bodies are always preparing for famine and will grab on to any extra fats it can get incase food becomes sparse. But lets face it this isn't going to happen in Ireland anytime soon and I don't think my parents will let me go hungry, even if they do threaten.

So I'm sick of over indulging in food when my body doesn't need it. Its not fair on me, my self image, confidence or body. I want to give my body what it naturally craves, MICRO NUTRIENTS. We keep stuffing ourselves full of crisps, sugars, fizzy drinks, take aways, MSG's and fructose and the likes to name a few and confusing our bodies on what it wants and what it needs.  Artificial energy boosts when we could get them from other natural sources with more benefits and less calories. Who wouldn't want that?

Here is a list of benefits from a 3 day detox I have taken from the Huffington Post.

  • Rests the stomach.
  • Rest & repair the gut.
  • Rest the liver.
  • Reduce your appetite.
  • Ease food decision making.
  • Eliminate harmful foods.
  • Floods body with super nutrients.
  • Lose weight.
  • Improve energy.
  • Rehydrate body.
  • Reduce physical problems.
  • Allow maximum detoxification.
  • Heal our cells.

So tonights the last night for at least three days of eating and hopefully the last time I eat fatty, unhealthy food. As I sit here about to dig into my crisp sandwich and prepare for chain smoking what better be my last cigarettes. I'm excited and can not wait for a change.  I'll keep a diary over the next three days giving full details on how I am finding the 3 day detox. Wish me luck.

Hi, have you met me?

Well most of you haven't yet. I am a 21 year old student nurse studying in England but from DUBLIN. My name isn't actually Sally Smith, I would rather stay incognito. Learnt that little word from The Incredibles, I think it makes me sound like I know what I'm doing.

Do you ever have so much going on in your head that your friends think your genuinely crazy? Well, this is what my blog is for. Somewhere to write all my ideas, thoughts, experiences and hopes down. I do apologise, my writing skills are poor to say the least. For instance I just wrote lest instead of least, THANK GOD FOR AUTOCORRECT!!!

This blog is going to be a bit scattered. It doesn't have a specific theme other than day to day life. I do plan on discussing fashion, crafts, music, travel and everything under the sun. As I'm currently back home for the summer unemployed this is going to be my job, spilling the beans on my life.

Currently I am in the middle of sorting items for a car boot sale so I'm planning on documenting my personal experience and possible failure. I am also starting a 3 day juice detox (god help me) and want to share my failure in that too. So I think what we have learnt so far is that this is a blog about my failures. I hope you's enjoy.
